Q: Why are gutters important?
A: Gutters are important because the help save the integrity of not only your foundation wall, but your homes lower window, doors, and siding. They help move the water away from your home and keep your basement dry.
Q: What are some reasons I might need to replace my gutters?
A: Some reasons you may need to replace your gutters is if they are: not installed properly, sectional pieces and leaking at the joints, steel and rotting through, damaged from a storm, or just to update to a new look and downspout location.
Q: How can I tell if my gutters aren't draining properly?
A: One of the biggest ways to tell if your gutters aren't draining properly is to look for them to be overflowing or if there is hardly any water flowing from the
downspouts.
Q: What are the different types of gutters available?
A: There are 3 main styles of gutters: K-Style, HalfRound, and Box gutters. Each of these styles are available in a variety of materials, such as Aluminum, Copper, Vinyl, and Galvanized Steel.
Q: Do gutters come in various shapes and sizes?
A: Gutters are typically round-shape or K-style, but other designs are available. 5 inches and 6 inches gutters are the most common sizes installed for residential use. However, 7, and 8 inches are available although the larger sizes are more suitable for larger buildings or business properties.
Q: Why should I replace my gutters if there is nothing wrong with them? Isn't it easier and cheaper to just cover them up to prevent them from clogging?
A: That decision is totally up to the homeowner. Whether they want to try and clean up the old gutters and put covers on them or if they want to replace them with new for a fresh, clean look. Either way, as long as the original gutter system is installed and pitched properly, it should be just fine.
Q: Can I install gutters on my own?
A: Sectional gutters from Menards or Home Depot, yes. The sectional gutters are standard issue for DIYers. Unfortunately, over time, regardless of how well they were installed, they will leak. Typically, the mounting brackets hold the gutter out roughly ½ inch from the fascia so water will still drip behind them and from the constant weather change we have in Wisconsin, the joints that hold the sectional gutters together will eventually fail and start leaking as well. You will need to hire a professional with the proper setup and equipment to install you a seamless gutter system.

A: Recommend cleaning your gutters at least every other month or in a "as-needed" basis.

A: Roughly 1 per 45', although some situations we have done 1 per 90' due to water placement issues. It really depends on how large the roof is and what volume of water is coming off of your roof.
Q: How do mesh gutter guards handle snow & ice?
A: Mesh gutter guards will most likely hold snow and ice on top of them not allowing them to drain. The flexxpoint gutter guards we use are black (thermal thaw) and they help try to melt snow and ice build up throughout the winter months. Nothing works perfectly, but in my experience, the flexxpoint have been proven to work the best.

A: I offer the 36 Norandex colors. (See here).
Q: Can you paint gutters after they are installed?
A: Yes. I have seen them painted before and they looked just fine, however I would try to plan accordingly and have the correct color installed to begin with.
